What am I passionate about?
I am passionate about being able to coordinate my client's aspirations with a final outcome and being able to create a space with a degree of creativity with some practicality. You've got to imagine and design in the way you think about how things will be placed in a space. This is quite challenging sometimes and there are always different problems that arise constantly that clients are unaware of and this is my greatest ability to deliver to my clients.
How did I get to enjoy my passion and build a business from it?
After working as an RN Div 2 nurse for 12 years I took on the role of motherhood to my 2 sons. Once they were at school and kinder I decided to follow my passion and love of Interior Design and Decoration. I undertook studies at The Interior Design Academy based in Sydney for two years and then through word of mouth began following leads from clients in the need to improve their internal spaces within Melbourne. Some projects have taken me to Sydney with clients and suppliers of which I have formed a great connection. I take on board consultations from my industry peers along the way working within the industry. However you do have to formally learn the basics of design, as well as the more practical side of interior design.
What do I enjoy most about interior design?
I have a passion for designing, sketching, drawing and planning spaces for my clients and providing professional design direction and construction of a project. I enjoy being able to take a very conceptual idea and transform that into something that is tangible.
My designs assist clients in whatever they might do depending on what the project is - whether it's a commercial or residential project. It's the translating of those initial concepts seeing them come together through construction to enjoyment by others of the spaces I design.
My intense passion for high quality furniture, fabrics and products?
I had a passion for initially providing design and conceptual improvements to my clients spaces in which they live and work. As time progressed I found it more difficult to rely on others to provide high quality furniture, fabrics and products in which to furnish these spaces. As a result, I discovered a niche in providing and sourcing high end products to clients like myself who wanted the same high quality finishes and attention to detail in which I strive for. Some of these products and services can be sourced through www.geraldinenegriinteriordesign.com
My passion for future projects?
I like making a difference in my client's lives. Creating spaces that enable people to be empowered and achieve the goals they put their heart to whether it is in a commercial or residential environment. Where people spend the majority of their time and have an environment that supports them and use whatever skills they need to do to complete their job.
My Design Business’ biggest challenge?
I think that the architectural and interior design industry today is rather challenging to enable people to understand the value of design in their homes and businesses. I have to work very hard at making sure that we're innovative, pushing the edges and making good choices. Design decisions for homes and businesses that challenge the way people think or do business.
